Central Education Meeting

When:  May 16, 2023 from 09:00 to 15:00 (ET)

9am | Preserving “Florida’s Natural Choice”
This presentation will provide attendees with information on the Seminole County Natural Lands Program, the what, how, when and why of preserving natural areas in one of Florida’s smallest counties. Participants will even have an opportunity to meet some of our natural ambassadors!

10:10am | Congratulations, You’re a Leader! Now what??
A promotion is a time to celebrate. But once you’ve arrived, there isn’t a ‘how-to’ manual, and there never seems to be the time to really understand the tasks required. This is for anyone who is already in a leadership position or has the desire to advance into one.

11:20am  |  Casselberry: The Little City That Could
How a little city such as a Casselberry had to think outside the box to create programming and events to compete with cities with major benefactors. And how your city can do the same thing.

12:20pm  |  Lunch

1:00pm  |  Plant This, Not That: Avoiding Commercially Available Invasive Plants
Have you ever purchased plants that then began to take over the park or surrounding natural area? Some invasive species are prohibited for sale in our state, however many remain available. These plants can wreak havoc on our environment, economy and can be a general maintenance burden. Join us to learn about common invasive species that you might see often, that should be avoided or removed and replaced with Florida Friendly selections.

2:05pm  |  Impact of a Maintenance Time Task Program
This session will provide an example of how to implement a time task analysis as well as utilize this program to evaluate Level of Services including: staffing, equipment, overtime.  This session will also help create a program that will help identify inefficiencies and ways to improve day to day operations.
